Captain Phillips is a true story of Captain Richard Phillips who suffered hijacking by Somali pirates in 2009. Besides this freighter is the first American cargo ship hijacked in the last 200 years.
U.S. freighter Maersk Alabama who dinahkodai by Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks) was traveling to Mombasa, Kenya. Suddenly the ship was surrounded by a group of pirates led by Muse (Barkhad Abdi).
